BUTUAN CITY (MindaNews/08 May) — Around 2.7 million pesos worth of shabu (Methamphetamine Hydrochloride) along with two suspects were apprehended here by a joint operation of the Police Regional Intelligence Division (RID) and the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Operations Task Group (CAIDSOTG), Friday afternoon.
Police Senior Inspector Arvin Hosmillo, team leader of the Regional Anti-Illegal Drug Special Operations Task Group (RAIDSOTG) under the RID said they seized from the raid around 235 grams of suspected shabu from 57 pieces of heat-sealed plastic sachet, which the Dangerous Drug Board said is valued at 2,773,000 pesos.
“We had been monitoring this group for the past two months and we are glad that we were able to get a warrant and test buy that led to the successful raid,” Hosmillo said.
From the police report, the operation was given a green light with the implementation of Search Warrant Nr 1706-2016 against Nasrodin Mohamad also known as Nash and Hanadheng Mohamad for violation of Sections 11 and 12, Article II, RA 9165 issued by Hon Judge Godofredo Abul, Jr., RTC Branch 4, Hall of Justice, Libertad, Butuan City dated April 29, 2016.
“About 30 police personnel including officers that handled perimeter security took part in the raid last May 6, at around 2:40 in the afternoon in Purok 7, Brgy Limaha. Our team was supplemented by the personnel from the Butuan City Police Office headed by Police Superintendent Rowena Martinez of the CAIDSOTG. We placed our personnel properly making sure that the suspects were not able to find ways to escape,” explained Hosmillo.
Senior Supt. Fernando Dungo, Jr, acting city police director narrated that when they had a big raid back in March, “I said that it was just the beginning. Now we have in our hand the number 10 in our top priority target for the first quarter, which is Nash Mohamad. And we are pursuing and continuously building up our intelligence on other identified targets here in Butuan,” said Dungo.
On March 15, 2016; the CAIDSOTG team apprehended Baelawan Gogo Rascal also known as Baelawan Amin and seized around 2.3 million pesos worth of shabu in one of the drug hot spots barangays in Butuan City.
Dungo added that the success in the latest operation “is also because of the joint effort of the city police and the regional intelligence division.”
“Since I came from the regional police office and worked with them in the past, it was a good way of linking resources for a common goal, making it sure that even with most of our personnel are busy preparing for the election, we are continuously pushing our drive against illegal drugs,” he said.
