Police arrested two alleged accomplices in the killing of broadcaster Juan “DJ Johnny Walker” in Misamis Occidental, authorities said last weekend.
Colonel Dwight Monato, Misamis Occidental police director, identified the suspects as Bobby Sagaray Bongcawel and Renante Bongcawel, both residents of Barangay Manla in Sapang Dalaga town, Misamis Occidental.
Monato said the two suspects were arrested on the strength of an arrest warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Branch Judge Michael Lotao Ajioc in Calamba town, also in Misamis Occidental.
No bail was recommended for the temporary liberty of the suspects.
However, Monato said that the alleged gunman, Julito Mangumpit, is still at large.
The suspects barged into the residence of Jumalon in Calamba town and shot him while he was doing a live broadcast for his radio program on 94.7 Calamba Gold FM last November 5.
Jumalon’s killing live on social media shocked the nation, prompting authorities to form a task force to run after his killers.
