KIDAPAWAN CITY (MindaNews/26 December) – Gunmen aboard a motorcycle shot dead a couple in this city on Tuesday, police said.
The victims were identified as William Mendoza and his wife, Diana, both traders and residents of Barangay Lanao here.
They were killed just outside their store located along the highway at around 11:15 a.m., Tuesday.
Investigators said the gunman first shot Diana, who was resting outside their store.
The gunman posed as a customer, approached Diana and ishot her in the head. She died on the spot, police said.
Eddie Mendoza, a relative, told reporters that minutes after he heard shots, he saw his nephew, William, trying to grab the assailant’s gun.
Mendoza said William saw what the gunman did to his wife adding, “Apparently, it was William’s instinct that prompted him to retaliate and kill the suspect but unfortunately, he failed.”
He said the gunman wore a pair of black sunglasses and a jacket.
