ZAMBOANGA CITY (MindaNews/14 July) – An Indian national was found dead late Sunday in Barangay Lunzuran, this city, a police official disclosed.
Senior Supt. Angelito Casimiro, city police officer-in-charge, identified the fatality as Singh Ran Jeet who was staying in Barangay Putik, this city.
Casimiro said the victim was found dead 10:35 p.m. with a gunshot wound in his temple.
He said a snub nose caliber .38 revolver with an empty shell inside the cylinder and a motorcycle were found at the crime scene.
He said they are eyeing either suicide or business rivalry as the motive for his death.
Casimiro said the suicide angle “will be part of the investigation” citing the security guards detailed in the two nearby subdivisions where the victim was found dead did not notice anyone running away from the crime scene.
He said the other motive could be business rivalry citing “there are Indian nationals who engaged in businesses and these are the groups that are trying to outwit each other. May rivalry sila.”
Casimiro, however, clarified they are also looking at other possible motives.
“We are still waiting for the objective evidence from the crime laboratory before we can lock in on the motive,” he added. (MindaNews)
