Alleged Abu Sayyaf bomb expert nabbed

ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanews/18 May) – Government forces have arrested an alleged Abu Sayyaf bomb expert in a raid near a military camp here.

Capt. Maria Rowena Muyuela, Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) information officer, identified the suspect as Abu Jomar.

Muyuela said Jomar was arrested in a raid at around 7 a.m. Saturday along 5th Street, Southcom Village, Barangay Upper Calarian, a village located in front of Camp Basilio Navarro which houses the Westimcom.

Muyuela said the raid was conducted on the basis of a search warrant issued by the Court after government intelligence operatives were tipped off on Jomar’s presence in the area.

Muyuela said the raiding team recovered from Jomar a mobile phone, electrical wirings, adhesive tapes and blasting caps.

She said the suspect was turned over to the police for appropriate action.[]
