ZAMBOANGA CITY (MindaNews / 4 March) – Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers seized on Monday four people, including three students, in Jolo, Sulu, a police official disclosed.
Senior Supt. Abraham Orbito, Sulu police director, identified the victims as Moh. Zaher Nain, 11; Almalyn Abuhail, 17; Alyza Farah Karanain, 8; and Saddam Amlih, 24.
Nain is the son of Dr. Faranahz Jajurie, the municipal health officer of Jolo.
Orbito said the victims were seized around 6:45 a.m. Monday in front of a tailoring shop along Gen. Arola Street in Barangay Alat in Jolo.
He said the victims were aboard a sports utility vehicle (SUV) driven by Amlih on the way to the Notre Dame of Jolo when seven armed men dressed in Tabligh attire waylaid them.
The police official said the gunmen transferred the victims at gunpoint to a Tamaraw vehicle that sped towards the municipality of Patikul.
He said that Jolo policemen pursued but lost track of the suspects and their victims.
