DAVAO CITY (MindaNews / 23 Sept) — Police recovered the remains of a six-year old girl at Purok 11 Kilometer 9 in Barangay Matina Pangi, this city six days after she was reported missing.
The child’s neck and feet were tied with electrical wires.
Senior Insp. Maria Teresita Gaspan, Davao City Police Office (DCPO) spokesperson said in a telephone interview that authorities are still conducting an autopsy to determine the cause of death and if the child was sexually abused.
The report said the victim’s mother Jezalle Tino Laquinario reported her child went missing since 4 p.m. of September 17, 2018.
Gaspan said police immediately dispatched investigators upon receiving information from a certain Rico Jay Lauron Labao, 27, a construction worker, that he discovered decomposing remains of a child at 8:30 a.m.
However, the police brought Labao to the police station and considered him a “person of interest” in the murder of the child after he gave inconsistent testimony during the investigation.
Police investigators recovered from Labao’s residence similar wires that were used to tie the victim. (Antonio L. Colina IV / MindaNews)
