GENERAL LUNA, Siargao, Surigao del Norte (MindaNews / 04 Feb) — Beyond Siargao, a monthly newsmagazine covering Siargao and Bucas Grande islands was launched here Sunday at the Bravao Beach Resort.
“We are very excited to present this first ever monthly publication of Siargao and Bucas Grande Island,” said Olga Garcia, 25, editor-in-chief of Beyond Siargao.
The monthly paper, which will be distributed for free, is a sister publication of Super Banat, a weekly newspaper based in Surigao City.
Garcia and Roel Catoto of Super Banat initiated the project and envision ‘Beyond Siargao’ to be the voice of the people of these islands.
“We will strive to chronicle events, activities, news and updates on issues confronting the island.
We have features in surfing, business, among others,” Garcia said. Some stories will be written in Surigaonon.
“What’s truly exciting is that we will be the first community paper in the country that is available to all readers for free,” Garcia said. (MindsNews)
