TACURONG CITY (MindaNews / 17 April) – Seven people, mostly policemen and soldiers, were wounded in two separate explosions in a gasoline station here along the national highway Monday evening.
Senior Supt. Raul Supiter, Sultan Kudarat provincial police chief, said two suspects were arrested by responding authorities but could not provide details yet as to their identities and their groups.
Supiter said the first explosion took place 6:40 p.
m. at the rooftop of the Dragon Gas Station in Barangay Isabela.
This was followed by another explosion 30 minutes later in the gasoline station compound as police and Army bomb experts were arriving.
Supiter said the gasoline station has been cordoned off as investigators are scouring the area for possible pieces of evidence.
The wounded were identified as S/Sgt.
Ipil Presaldo, S/Sgt Menzo Salsalito Manoy, SPO2 Jasper Garcia, PO1 Martin San Pedro, and PO1 Eleazar Sustiguer, apparently explosive ordnance personnel; and civilians Bobong Bamo and a certain Michael Pon.
Earlier today, there were text messages and Facebook posts circulating that mentioned possible terror attacks by the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) in Tacurong, Koronadal City in South Cotabato and Kidapawan City in North Cotabato.
Police are now conducting tactical interrogation and followup investigation on the captured suspects. (Ferdinandh Cabrera / MindaNews)
