COTABATO CITY (MindaNews / 01 June) – Three armed men were killed in a shootout in Barangay Capiton, Datu Odin Sinsuat town Saturday evening, one of them found to be using the firearm of Mother Kabuntalan police chief, Inspector Tiongan Namla, who was killed in an ambush on March 28 this year.
Police Inspector Datu Tulon Pinguiaman, chief of police of Datu Odin Sinsuat town, said the shootout was triggered when the slain men, armed with pistols, including Namla’s, arrived in front of the house of Namla’s in-laws, on board a motorcycle and tricycle, apparently looking for someone.
Pinguiaman said that based on the information they gathered, one of the slain men attempted to pull off his .45 caliber pistol but was fired upon first by the men they were said to be looking for.
Police found Namla’s pistol in the possession of one of the slain men “so we have an assumption now that they might be behind the killing of Inspector Namla based on the evidence we found,” Pinguiaman said. (Ferdinandh B. Cabrera / MindaNews)
