ZAMBOANGA CITY (MindaNews/29 April) – A total of 44,192 job vacancies both for local and overseas employment are up for grabs during a jobs fair here on Thursday, the 112th Labor Day Celebration.
Ian Lahi, head of the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE)-Zamboanga City field office, said that 39,489 of the 44,192 job vacancies are for overseas employment.
Lahi said that 44 private companies and government agencies, as well as overseas placement agencies, have confirmed participation in the jobs fair.
He said the jobs fair, which will be preceded by a motorcade, will be held at the covered court of the Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. of May 1.
He said that 22 of the 44 participating companies are overseas placement agencies.
He said the jobs fair is part of the DOLE’s program for this year’s Labor Day celebration in a bid to provide employment opportunities to fresh graduates and to the unemployed.
This year’s Labor Day celebration is anchored on the theme “Sa Sipag, Tiyaga, at Talino, Buong Mundo Saludo sa Manggagawang Pilipino.”
Meanwhile, Lahi said there will be also raffle bonanza which will be held side-by-side with the jobs fair.
