GENERAL SANTOS CITY (MindaNews / 17 Oct) – The Department of Tourism (DOT) in Region 12 will unveil before yearend an enhanced regional tourism website as it embarks on a global campaign to promote the area as the country’s “12th paradise.”
Nelly Nita Dillera, DOT Region 12 director, said Thursday they are presently developing the tourism website to help increase awareness about the region’s tourism attractions and eventually draw more visitors and tourists.
She said it will mainly feature an attractive theme highlighting the area’s tourism resources as well as various relevant information for travelers and visitors.
“The website is now under construction and we’re targeting to launch it by December,” Dillera said in a media forum.
The official said the regional tourism website (www.dot12.org.ph) will be linked to the sites of local government units in the region to help promote their development efforts.
It will include updated information on tour packages being offered by various DOT-accredited travel agencies in the region.
Dillera said the website will serve as the main vehicle of their online promotion efforts for Region 12’s newly-launched “12th paradise” tourism brand.
The new tourism brand features Sarangani province as an adventure haven through its river tubing, diving and paragliding attractions; this city for its famed tuna; South Cotabato for Lake Sebu; North Cotabato for Mt. Apo; Sultan Kudarat for its agri-tourism, natural springs and ziplines; and Cotabato City for its cultural treasures.
The DOT 12 and regional tourism stakeholders formally launched the new tourism brand during the tourism week celebration here last month.
As part of the brand’s launching, they also launched a massive campaign to promote the region’s “paradise-like” destinations to the global tourism market.
Dillera said they’re hoping to bring their campaign to more sectors around the globe through the website.
“We’re not only looking at drawing tourists to our area but possible investments and business ventures as well,” she added.
