SULTAN KUDARAT. Maguindanao (MindaNews/01 May) – Fire destroyed the municipal headquarters of the Liberal Party in Barangay Bulalo (not Salimbao as earlier reported) at around 7 p.m. Wednesday, causing a traffic jam along Quirino Bridge which connects Cotabato City and this town.
The house rented by the LP is owned by Ressie Torres.
Another house nearby was also gutted.
Residents in the area declined to talk to reporters.
Several election paraphernalia and posters of LP candidates were burned.
Last month, another house of a council bet of Maguindanao Governor Esmael Mangudadatu in the nearby town of Sultan Mastura where his posters were kept and posted in Barangay Simuay, was also burned.
The Bureau of Fire Protection is still investigating the incident.
Mangudadatu is seeking reelection against Sultan Kudarat Mayor Tucao Mastura of the United Nationalist Alliance. (Ferdinandh Cabrera/MindaNews)
