KIDAPAWAN CITY (MindaNews/20 April) — A church worker died while 19 other people were injured when their vehicle collided with another car while negotiating a curve along the highway in Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat, 6:45 a.
m. Saturday.
Supt. Junny Buenacosa, police chief of Tacurong City, identified the fatality as Angelita Ceballos Kim, a worker at the Sta. Teresita Parish in Datu Piang, Maguindanao.
Kim, 20, who was seated next to the driver, died instantly due to severe head injuries, according to police reports.
Injured were Alimodin Yusop, driver of a passenger Town Ace van with license plate MEV 351, Julieta Rillon, Jonaida Laureta, Boy Mastura, Rommel Balte, Reniel Ceballos, Honey Leah Ceballos, Antonio Torre Sr., Lydia and Reyna Draper, Gloria Vasquez, Carmen Medellin, Flordeliz Manlugan, Jessica Tomas, Daniel Vasquez, Teresita Faustino, and a certain Kagui.
The victims were rushed to Tamondong Hospital, Saint Louie Hospital, and Quijano Hospital, all in Tacurong City.
Rillon, one of the severely injured, was immediately transferred to a hospital in Davao City for further treatment.
Buenacosa said the victims, all on board the van, were on their way to attend the thanksgiving mass of Fr. Daniel Pacate in Barangay Kisante, Makilala when the accident happened.
Pacate is one of the newly-ordained missionaries of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate.
The vehicle collided with a blue Toyota Hi-Lux pickup driven by Jereca Paredez.
