KORONADAL CITY (MindaNews/5 February)—At least 60 houses owned by informal settlers in nearby General Santos City were razed to the ground Tuesday afternoon, a city hall worker said.
Avelmar Manansala, GenSan city hall media liaison officer, said the fire broke out at New Bohol, Purok Islam 2 in Barangay South.
At least 100 families were affected by the incident, he said.
The fire victims sought refuge at a nearby public school with the city government providing them basic relief goods, Manansala said.
He said the houses of the fire victims were mostly made of light materials.
Arson investigators were still investigating the cause of the fire. (MindaNews)
