KORONADAL CITY (MindaNews/16 February)— Three earthquakes in less than two hours struck parts of Mindanao Saturday, the strongest recorded at magnitude 6.2, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said.
The magnitude 6.2 quake occurred at 12:37 p.m., with the epicenter some 30 kilometers (km) northeast of Sarangani in Davao del Sur, the agency said.
Intensity 4 was felt in Mati and Taragona in Davao Oriental, Intensity 3 in Davao City and Intensity 2 in the cities of General Santos, Butuan and Malaybalay.
The second quake occurred at 1:44 p.m. with a magnitude of 3.9 that struck 58 kilometers northeast of Hinatuan Surigao del Sur, the agency reported.
Intensity 3 was felt at Hinatuan and Intensity 2 in Bislig, also in Surigao del Sur.
The third quake which had a magnitude of 3.4 struck 101 km northeast again of Sarangani in Davao del Sur at 2:17 pm., PHIVOLCS said
All the three quakes were of tectonic origins, PHIVOLCS said.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage to properties. (MindaNews)
