ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanews/02 April) – A bystander was injured when an improvised bomb exploded in an eatery at the public market of Isabela City in Basilan province at around 5:10 p.m.
Lt. Col. Randolph Cabangbang, Western Mindanao Command (Wesmincom) spokesperson, said the explosion was in an eatery owned by Hadji Nurudin Lim Bapura, 65.
The bystander, who was slightly wounded, was rushed to the hospital for treatment, he said.
Cabangbang said that investigation showed the bomb was placed inside a basket full of bananas and left at the eatery of Bapura.
He said the explosives ordnance demolition (EOD) team recovered an improvised time fuse and wiring at the explosion site.
He said the improvised bomb component was urea, a solid nitrogenous fertilizer. (MindaNews)
