ZAMBOANGA CITY (MindaNews/19 January) – Two business partners who were kidnapped Saturday in Baloi, Lanao del Norte have been freed in separate places in Mindanao, a top police official disclosed Wednesday.
Chief Supt. Felicisimo Khu, Directorate for Integrated Police Operations (DIPO)-West director said one of the victims was freed in Baloi and the other in Ramain, Lanao del Sur.
Khu said Ma. Elda Senedo and Nadja Saldivar were kidnapped around 6 p.m. Saturday.
Senedo and Saldivar, who own a printing press in Iligan City, were aboard a service utility vehicle on their way home to Barangay Palao of the same city when flagged down by three gunmen, the police official said.
He said the suspects commandeered the victims’ vehicle after taking P300,000 in cash from them and sped toward Balindong, Lanao del Sur.
He said the gunmen released Saldivar around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in Ramain and she was ordered to raise a P1.2-million ransom for Senedo.
Khu, however, said Senedo was freed around 6:30 p.m. on the same day upon the intercession of Agakhan Sarip, in Baloi.
Sarip turned over Senedo to 601st Infantry Brigade commander Col. Leo Ferrer after her release, according to Khu. (MindaNews)
