The Sta Catalina Multipurpose Cooperative, the biggest cooperative in North Cotabato with over 4,000 members, struggles to find ways to offer its members higher price for their rice produce.
Currently they buy at P13 per kilo, three pesos higher than the market price and offers patronage refund and dividends to members.
With post harvest facilities, including solar dryer, milling and direct selling, the buying price of palay can be stretched up to P25 per kilo, with modest profit margins.
