High incidence of dengue in North Cot but no outbreak

|  July 30, 2006 - 8:36 am

Dr. Reynan Sungcad said the high incidence of dengue could not be considered an outbreak because the cases were not confined to one area.

“An outbreak could only be declared if hemorrhagic dengue fever strikes a village or a town,” he said, adding the deaths were due to dengue fever came from the towns of Mlang, Kidapawan, Kabacan and Arakan Valley.

 Of the 380 dengue cases,  190 were from ages 0 to 19 —  84 aged 0-9 years old and 106 aged 10-19; 58 were aged 22-29 and 46 cases were 30 years and above. (Williamor A. Magbanua/MindaNews)
