Apilado said top politicians must set good examples to the community that they are serving. "Our top politicians seem to be quarreling. This has negative implications since we are trying so hard to promote and achieve a peaceful society," he said.
Police Ssupt. Efren Perez of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) also commented that the mayor and the congressman have built a wall and Dabawenyos must make a move to break this wall.
"We must take the initiative and be their link so they may be able to talk to each other again. We are the link,” Perez said.
Apilado said the amicable relationship between the mayor and the congressman is a concrete example of "building bridges of peace.”
Brg. Gen Rene Badilla, Eastern Mindanao Command Deputy Chief Commander, however commented that the two leaders, contrary to reports, are actually talking. He said there have been many instances where the two political leaders have talked amicably, but it was not shown to the media. (Cherry Concon/MindaNews)
