Voters in Marawi City ratified the creation of three new barangays during a plebiscite held last Saturday there, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said.
In a statement, the Comelec said that 2,121 out of 2,265 voters approved the creation of the three barangays.
The voters came from the three barangays of Kila, Patani, and Dulay.
The three new barangays are named Panoroganan, Angoyan, and Sultan Corobong.
Comelec spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco said the voting was successful, peaceful, and orderly.
The PHIVIDEC Industrial Authority and the Philippine Army’s 4th Infantry Division signed a Memorandum of Agreement Monday morning for the deployment of a company of militiamen to ensure securi ty at the 3,000-hectare facility.
“The activation of the CAA (CAFGU Active Auxiliaries)-II company aligns with the Phividec mission to preserve and enhance the well-being of its stakeholders,” the PHIVIDEC said in a statement.
The CAA is under the direct supervision of the Philippine Army.
Among the major companies located in the industrial estate are the Philippine Sinter and FDC Misamis Power Corp., which operates a coal-fired power plant.
