DAVAO CITY (MindaNews / 5 December) – Several Mindanao law schools were among the top performing laws schools in the Philippines, results of the 2023 September Bar examinations released Tuesday showed.
However, none from Mindanao’s new lawyers made it to the topnotcher’s list.
The top performing Mindanao law schools produced 170 successful bar-takers.
Nationwide, 3,812 passed the 2023 September Bar examinations.
Supreme Court Associate Justice Ramon Paul Hernando announced the results on Tuesday, which has a national passing rate of 36.77 percent out of the 10,387 candidates who took the bar examinations.
The bar exam is considered as the “most difficult licensure examination in the Philippines.”
For law schools with 11 to 50 candidates, the Ateneo de Davao University in Davao City ranked first with 43 passers out of 49 takers, Notre Dame of Marbel University in Koronadal City with nine out of 11 placing fourth, and the University of Southeastern Philippines in Davao City with 11 out of 14 ranking fifth.
For law schools with 51 to 100 candidates, Xavier University in Cagayan de Oro City ranked third with 65 passers out of 100 takers, and University of Mindanao with 26 out of 55 at fifth.
For law schools with one to 10 candidates, St. Mary’s College of Tagum, Inc. ranked first with 6 passers out of 7 takers, and St. Thomas More School of Law and Business at second with 7 out of 9.
