DAVAO CITY (MindaNews / 21 January) – Twenty-two provinces in Mindanao are now under Alert Level 3 after the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases upgraded the classification of 11 more Mindanao provinces, from January 21 to 31.
These are Zamboanga del Norte and Zamboanga Sibugay in Zamboanga Peninsula, Lanao del Norte in Northern Mindanao, Davao de Oro and Davao Oriental in the Davao Region, North Cotabato, Sarangani, and Sultan Kudarat in Soccsksargen, Surigao del Norte in Caraga, and Basilan and Maguindanao in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao.
The upgrading of these areas from Alert Level 2 to Alert Level 3 was contained in IATF Resolution 158 announced on Thursday evening by Acting Presidential Spokesperson and Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles
Five Mindanao provinces, namely Camiguin, Davao Occidental, Dinagat Islands, Sulu, and Tawi-tawi remain under Alert Level 2.
The rest of the Mindanao areas of concern remain under Alert Levels assigned to them by the IATF under resolutions 156-C last January 12 and 157-A last January 13.
The classification of the following areas remained unchanged as of Friday afternoon, Jan. 21: Isabela City, Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur, Cagayan de Oro City, Bukidnon, Iligan City, Misamis Occidental, Misamis Oriental, Camiguin, Davao City, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Occidental, General Santos City, South Cotabato, Butuan City, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Dinagat Islands, Cotabato City, Lanao del Sur, Sulu, and Tawi-tawi.
