DAVAO CITY (MindaNews / 29 Sept) – A magnitude 6.4 quake of tectonic origin struck the southern part of Mindanao at 10:02 a.m, but for no damages were reported.
At least 20 aftershocks ranging from magnitude 2.3 to 3.6 have been recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) as of 12:35 noon.
In its Earthquake Information Number 2, Phivolcs said the quake’s epicenter was 130 kms southeast of Jose Abad Santos in Davao Occidental with a depth of 60 kilometers. Aftershocks were expected but damages were not.
The quake was felt at Intensity 4 in General Santos City; 3 in Tampakan, South Cotabato; Kidapawan, Makilala and Magpet in North Cotabato; Davao City; Magsaysay and Sta. Cruz in Davao del Sur; Panabo City; Gingoog City; Magsaysay in Misamis Oriental; Damulog and Kalilangan in Bukidnon.
It registered Intensity 2 in Cagayan de Oro City; Balingasag, Jasaan and Villanueva in Misamis Oriental; Kabacan, M’lang and Tulunan in North Cotabato; and Columbio and Tacurong City in Sultan Kudarat. (MindaNews)
