DAVAO CITY (MindaNews / 31 May) – A magnitude 6.2 earthquake east of Davao Oriental jolted the southeastern part of Mindanao dusk on Friday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
In its Earthquake Information No.
1 released at 6:21 p.m., Phivolcs said the quake occurred at 6:12 p.
m.
The bulletin said the epicenter was underneath the sea at 92 kms southeast of Governor Generoso municipality in Davao Oriental.
It is reportedly of tectonic origin with a depth of focus at 76 kms. Phivolcs expected no damage but noted that aftershocks may occur.
Phivolcs said the quake was felt as Intensity V in Mati City in Davao Oriental and Intensity II in Bislig City in Surigao del Sur.
According to Instrumental Intensities, Alabel and Kiamba towns in Sarangani experienced Intensity IV, Intensity III in Kidapawan City and Intensity I in Cagayan de Oro and Bislig cities. (MindaNews)
