DAVAO CITY (MindaNews / 31 May) – Janilou Faye Rosales, who had just graduated on Thursday at the San Pedro College, and her companion, Melody Ann Sotelo Ybanez, died when their vehicle crashed head-on with Yutong Bus, owned by Davao Metro Shuttle Corp., along Quimpo Boulevard fronting a Shell gasoline station here on Friday morning.
Based on an investigation conducted by the police, the Mazda sedan driven by 27-year-old Ybanez was traveling from Eco-West Drive going to MacArthur Highway when it encroached on the opposite lane and collided with an incoming bus, driven by Ricky Aban Deloso, 42, at 4:35 a.
m.
Ybanez, an entrepreneur, and her 21-year-old passenger, a graduate of Medical Laboratory Science, were proclaimed dead by responding personnel of the Davao City Central 911.
The bus passengers who sustained injuries were brought to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC).
The sedan was dragged 22 meters away from the point of collision due to the impact, according to a police report.
