DAVAO CITY (MindaNews / 06 Dec) — An Indonesian member of a fishing crew who was kidnapped in Sabah in September “was able to escape from his abductors” in Sitito Tubig Bual, Barangay Bual in Luuk, Sulu and was rescued by troops from the Marine Battalion Landing Team 3 at around 7:30 a.
m. on December 6, the Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) said.
A press release from the Westmincom identified the victim as Usman Yusuf, 35, who was abducted off Sempornah, Sabah, Malaysia aboard a Malaysian fishing vessel on September 11, 2018.
Westmincom said that with Yusuf freed from captivity, only six kidnap victims remain in the hands of their captors: three Filipinos and three foreigners.
Yusuf was brought to Kuta Heneral Teodulfo Bautista Station Hospital for medical check-up and from there was presented to the Commander of the Joint Task Force Sulu before he was turned over to the Western Mindanao Command in Zamboanga City.
