DAVAO CITY (MindaNews/ 25 Oct) – Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology made it to the annual list of top Asian universities by United Kingdom-based group Quacquarelli Symonds (QS).
No other university in Mindanao joined the QS University Rankings 2019, where MSU-IIT landed in the 451-500 bracket, the same place obtained by Silliman University in Dumaguete City, which fell from the 35-400 bracket in the 2018 rankings.
The University of the Philippines went up from 75th to 72nd place to lead all the country’s universities in the rankings.[]
Ateneo de Manila University followed UP at 115th spot, although it fell 20 notches from 95th place.[]
De La Salle University went down from 134th to 155th place, and University of Santo Tomas fell from 145th to 162nd place.
Cebu’s University of San Carlos and Manila’s Mapua University remained in their 2018 rankings at 301-350 and 401-450, respectively.
The National University of Singapore returned to the top spot in Asia after settling for second place last year.
The University of Hong Kong placed second and Nanyang Technological University-Singapore and Tsinghua University both placed third.[]
The QS 2019 rankings used academic reputation, employer reputation, international research network, staff with Doctorate degrees and inbound and outbound exchange students among other indicators in assessing the universities. (MindaNews)
