DAVAO CITY (MindaNews / 29 Aug) – An Airbus 321 of the Philippine Airlines (PAL) bound for Manila failed to take off Wednesday afternoon after its engine exploded reportedly due to a “bird strike.”
PR 2814 was scheduled to depart Francisco Bangoy International Airport (formerly Davao International Airport) at 1:05 p.m. and supposed to arrive at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 2:55 p.m.
One of the passengers who requested anonymity said an explosion was heard shortly before the aircraft was about to take off causing, it to halt in the middle of the runway.
Passengers stayed inside the aircraft until 2:10 p.m. before they were told to disembark. They were transferred to another flight schedule at 7 p.m. today. (Antonio L. Colina IV / MindaNews)
