CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (MindaNews / 25 August) — The entire city is without mobile phone signal for four to six hours a day from Saturday to Tuesday, after the National Telecommunications Commission ordered the telecommunications providers to suspend their services to ensure the security of the St. Augustine fiesta celebration.

NTC informed the local government unit that mobile phone signal is jammed from 3 p.m. Saturday until after the coronation of the Miss Cagayan de Oro 2018 in the evening.
In its memorandum order sent to Globe and Smart companies, the NTC also ordered their services suspended during the Higalaay Festival Carnival Street Parade from 3 pm to 7 pm on Sunday, August 26, and during the Float and Civil Military Parade from 7 am to 12 noon on Monday, August 27.
There will be no mobile phone signal during the religious procession of the image of St. Augustine early morning of the feast day on Tuesday, August 28.
