KIDAPAWAN CITY (MindaNews/26 July) – Three hundred nine vehicles alleged to have violated traffic laws were impounded at a local police station in line with “Oplan Mapayapa,” an official said.
Superintendent Ramel Hojilla, Kidapawan City police director said “Oplan Mapayapa” started Tuesday and will continue until next week.
Hojilla said that of the 309 vehicles that were apprehended since Tuesday, 39 are motorbikes, three are four-wheeled vehicles, one is a tricycle and the remaining 266 were issued temporary operators’ permit for several traffic violations.
He added they arrested at least 82 violators of the anti-smoking ordinance and other laws as well as three wanted persons.
Hojilla said Chief Supt. Marcelo Morales, regional police director came up with “Oplan Mapayapa” mainly to curb violations of traffic laws.
Most of the violations were driving without license and documents for vehicles like official receipts certificates of registration. (Malu Cadelina Manar/MindaNews)
