DAVAO CITY (MindaNews / 15 June) – Two unidentified gunmen shot dead a barangay (village) councilor in Davao del Norte on Thursday morning.
A report released by the Police Regional Officer (PRO) 11 identified the victim as Santos S. Samoranos, of Barangay Lapaz in Carmen town.
It said the 65-year old victim, who was riding his motorcycle from his home, was shot several times upon arriving in Barangay Poblacion at 10:45 am.
It added the victim was immediately brought to Carmen District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
PRO 11 spokesperson Chief Insp. Milgrace Driz said police were still investigating the incident but they suspected that the motive might be personal grudge or work-related. (Antonio L. Colina IV/MindaNews)
