KIDAPAWAN CITY (MindaNews / 2 May) – Three persons were injured, one of them in critical condition, when their vehicle plunged into an open canal after its brakes exploded along the highway in President Roxas, North Cotabato, past 4 p.
m. on Tuesday, a police official said.
Chief Insp. Andres Sumugat, chief of the President Roxas municipal police, identified the victims as Marcel Ortega Suncad, 36, of Kidapawan City; Mary Jane Casol Lebita, 37; and Cornelio Lambos, 42. Of the three, Lebita had to be rushed to a hospital in Davao City for further treatment.
Sumugat said the green Toyota Hi-Ace van with plate number LDF 805 was headed towards Antipas, North Cotabato when its brakes exploded along Barangay Greenhills in President Roxas.
The vehicle, driven by Suncad, plunged into an open canal beside the road.
Sumugat said the van was overloaded with dry goods and school supplies.
Victims were rushed to the Cotabato Provincial Hospital in Barangay Amas, this city, but one of them has to be transferred to the Southern Philippines Medical Center in Davao City for further treatment.
