KIDAPAWAN CITY (MindaNews / 19 April) – Some P2.6 million worth of livelihood projects were distributed to 10 associations of beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) from six barangays in this city.
Staff from the Department of Social Welfare and Development of Regional Office Number 12 (DSWD-12) based in Koronadal City and Kidapawan Mayor Joseph Evangelista led the distribution last Monday of several “kabuhayan” (livelihood) showcase projects to selected 4Ps beneficiaries.
Reports from DSWD-12 said funds for the P2.
6-million projects were taken from the Micro-Enterprise Tract of the Sustainable Livelihood Program of the DSWD.
Through the project, it is expected that the status of the beneficiaries would improve and are able to cope with too much poverty, the DSWD said.
The beneficiaries are selected from the barangays of Ilomavis, Poblacion, Kalaisan, Kalasuyan, Amas, and San Isidro, areas considered “poor.”
The DSWD said members of each association would share from the income of their business.
It is their duty, however, to ensure the business would grow and expand so they could cope with poverty, the DSWD added.
One of the “kabuhayan” showcases they received was a “Community Store with Bigasan and Agri-Vet Supplies.” Each showcase is estimated at P140,000 up to P440,000. (Malu Cadelina Manar / MindaNews)
