KIDAPAWAN CITY (MindaNews / 5 Jan) – Authorities nabbed on Thursday a murder suspect who hid for a decade after he allegedly killed a relative in Magpet, North Cotabato.
Arrested was Romeo Quino Apang, 41. Senior Police Officer 1 Jose Marie Catulong Dusaban, of the Magpet municipal police station, claimed that the suspect was the most wanted person in North Cotabato.
Apang, court records show, is charged with murder at the Regional Trial Court branch 23 in Kidapawan City, under criminal case number 534-2007.
Police said Apang transferred from one place to another somewhere in North Cotabato after he killed in 2007 an aunt identified as Erlinda Ajao of Poblacion, Magpet.
Dusaban said that Apang, believing that family or relatives of Ajao have already forgotten his case, went home during the Christmas break.
But relatives informed Magpet PNP about Apang’s presence in the community.
The Magpet police, according to Dusaban, immediately sent operatives to arrest the suspect.
The police held Apang in their custody while waiting for his commitment order from RTC Branch 23. (Malu Cadelina Manar / MindaNews)
