KIDAPAWAN CITY (MindaNews / 16 January) – A suspected member of the New Peoples’ Army (NPA) was caught in an alleged extortion activity during an entrapment operation here Monday, a police officer said.[]
City police director Chief Inspector Ramel Hojilla identified the suspect as Crisanto Dandan Coyoca, 29, driver, of Barangay New Corilla in Makilala, North Cotabato.
Hojilla said Coyoca identified himself as a member of the NPA Front Guerilla 72, and was caught receiving the alleged extortion money from a hardware store owner whose identity was withheld for security reasons.
The alleged transaction was done in a restaurant.[]
Hojilla said his operatives collared the suspect the moment he received the money from the businessman.
The police official said the storeowner sought their help after receiving the extortion letter allegedly coming from the NPA.
The rebel group allegedly demanded P10 thousand monthly from the trader as protection money.[]
