SOUTH UPI, Maguindanao (MindaNews / 24 Sept) – It’s not just the young ladies anymore who can compete in beauty pageants.
In this municipality, pregnant women climbed up the stage to show their beauty in the first “Reyna ng mga Buntis 2015.

“We would like to showcase the beauty and talent of our pregnant mothers and how they maintain beautiful faces and bodies,” said Rebecca Tenorio, public health nurse of South Upi.
The mothers representing 11 villages showed what they got during the town’s 39th founding anniversary Tuesday.
“They acted like they were never pregnant, they danced like they carry no babies in their wombs,” Tenorio said of the mothers beaming in maternity dresses.[]/a> with |||
A sports attire competition was also included in the show.
One contestant performed a modern dance number during the talent show while another highlighted her tribal community by performing a lumad dance.
Tenorio said the event was part of the “Buntis Congress” of the municipal health office which aims to show that pregnancy is a symbol of beauty and should be showcased to show a healthy pregnant mother.
