The younger Duterte, however, said she would support any decision that is made by her father, whether he would run or not.
“He’s 70 years old, and at that age, I don’t think someone can still accept that kind of responsibility,” Sara said.
This was the first time Sara spoke to the press about her father’s candidacy.
Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, meanwhile, has been vocal in supporting his daughter as his replacement in the upcoming elections next year.
He has, however, said he was hands off in his children’s political plans.
Last month, the mayor said it was up to Sara and his son Paolo, who is the city’s vice mayor, to decide among themselves their political plans.[]
Paolo has, for example, revealed he was interested in running for mayor in case his father makes up his mind on the presidency.[]
