ZAMBOANGA CITY (MindaNews/07 April) – The inter-agency Sea-based Anti-Trafficking Task Force (SBATTF) rescued on Sunday four victims of illegal recruitment and arrested two suspected illegal recruiters in this city.
Senior Supt. Angelito Casimiro, Zamboanga City police director, said the victims were rescued shortly after 10 a.m. Sunday at a rented house at Cabato Street, Barangay Tetuan.
Casimiro said the victims, all female, were recruited in Luzon to work supposedly in Dubai for an Egyptian employer.
He said the victims arrived here last March 31 and were scheduled to depart last Sunday evening for Dubai via Sandakan, Sabah through a certain Mike, who would meet them before departure.
He identified the arrested alleged recruiter as a certain Nancy of Manila.
He said the other alleged recruiter, identified as a certain Camaruddin, was arrested in an entrapment operation around 8:45 p.
m. Sunday at a hotel along Buenavista Street, this city.
He said the arresting team confiscated from the possession of Camaruddin several passports and fake visas. The suspect is from the province of Zamboanga del Sur. (MindaNews)
