ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanews/29 March) – Combined military and police operatives rescued Friday four female potential victims of trafficking and arrested an alleged illegal recruiter in Tawi-Tawi.
Ensign Chester Ian Ramos, Joint Task Force Zambasulta information officer, said the rescued were identified only as Marilou, Clarisa, Claiza, and Ritz.
Ramos identified the suspected recruiter as a certain Henry, who was arrested aboard the commercial vessel where the four women were rescued at around 11 a.m. aboard a commercial ferry docked at the Chinese Pier in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi.
He said the ferry was scheduled to depart for Malaysia when the victims were rescued
He said the victims were rescued following information that a group of women were aboard the ferry and were en route to Malaysia to work
He said they are constantly monitoring inbound and outbound ferries in Bongao after it was reported that human traffickers use the southern backdoor as their jump-off point. (MindaNews)
