MARIHATAG, Surigao del Sur (MindaNews / 27 December) – The New People’s Army conducted “more than 300 raids” against government troops and paramilitary forces in Mindanao in 2014, Jorge Madlos, spokesperson of the National Democratic Front – Mindanao, said.
Madlos told a crowd that gathered here to celebrate the 46th anniversary of the Communist Party of the Philippines on Friday afternoon that they were able to maintain their stronghold in Mindanao with 46 guerrilla fronts despite attacks by government forces.
“Taliwala sa walay puas nga mga bangis, pasistang atake sa Armed Forces of the Philippines nga karon adunay 55 ka impantri nga batalyon nga naglunsad og kontra-rebolusyonaryong mga kampanya pagpanumpo sa Mindanao, walay usa nga natarang gerilya nga nadugmok sa kaaway,” Madlos said. (Despite the non-stop dreaded fascist attack by the Armed Forces of the Philippines with their 55 infantry battalions in Mindanao which conducted counter-revolutionary campaign, not one among our fronts was crushed by the enemy), Madlos said.
He said tactical offensives which they lunched against government forces in the year 2014 summed up to “more than 300.”
He said they also seized hundreds of different firearms from the military and paramilitary.
Madlos said more platoons were also set up this year. “In a nutshell, the soldiers of the People have become bigger, wider and stronger,” Madlos said.
But Madlos gave no exact figures as to the number of raids conducted, the firearms seized and the platoons set up. (Roel N. Catoto / MindaNews)
