13-year old Bukidnon boy wins nationwide talent search
Manlangit, who performed Bamboo’s Noypi in the performance night on June 1, won P2 million in the much-coveted title won by singers from the first three seasons.
PGT winners are determined by the highest number of text and online votes.[]
He prevailed over five other finalists including black light performers Zilent Overload, MP3 Band, D’ Intensity Breakers, cyr wheel dancer Frankendal Fabroa and car drifters Lateral Drift Productions composed of Gio Rodriguez and Ralph Tan.
Manlangit’s shot to fame started when a video showing him wearing slippers and sando outside a mall in Valencia City while singing Whitney Houston’s “I will always love you” went viral. The video, uploaded by “migui2k” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNBDI5-YIJY), has generated at least two million views since it was uploaded on August 24, 2012.
Since then, he has performed in variety shows on television.[]
He later joined PGT4 and is now the youngest grand winner in all four seasons.
In the semi-finals, judges Kris Aquino and Freddie M. Garcia chose Manlangit over Chaeremon Basa, 16, a flair bar tender from Bacolod City.
He sang Wency Cornejo’s “Habang May Buhay.”
The Manlangits of Valencia City have been reported to be victims of Typhoon Pablo in December 2012, which Roel said has inspired him to perform better and win the talent competition. (Walter I. Balane/MindaNews)
