CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (MindaNews/07 March)—A parallel investigation is necessary before a police officer who was caught in a dragnet operation here last Tuesday afternoon by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA 10) could be sanctioned with preventive suspension, the city police director said yesterday.
In phone interview today, city police director Senior Supt. Gerardo Rosales said while the PDEA may file criminal charges, they will also start a parallel investigation to build an administrative case against one of their members.
Personnel from PDEA 10-Misamis Oriental Provincial Special Enforcement Team led by Investigation Officer 2 Vincent Cecil Orcales reportedly caught Police Officer 1 Aliakbar S. Dimaampao, 31, in its “buy-bust operation” at about 5pm on Tuesday.
Dimaampao is an active police officer assigned at Police Station 6, Barangay Puerto.
“Kailangan natin idaan sa proseso itong kay Dimaampao (We have to make Dimaampao undergo the process). When we have the results of our investigation then we will file appropriate administrative charges against him,” Rosales said.
Dimaampao was among the alleged drug offenders caught in a series of buy-bust operation PDEA 10 launched on Tuesday. Reportedly recovered from him was one heat-sealed plastic sachet containing suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride).
According to an emailed statement from PDEA 10 dated March 6, the “suspects (including Dimaampao) are now temporarily detained at PDEA 10 Detention Cell for booking and documentation while recovered drug evidences were brought to PNP Crime Laboratory for quantitative and qualitative examination.”
“Cases for violation of RA 9165 or the Dangerous Drug Act are being prepared and readied for filing appropriate charges in court,” the statement added. (Cong Corrales/MindaNews)
