DAVAO CITY (MindaNews/7 Nov) – The New People’s Army has, in the past three days, been launching offensives within the area of jurisdiction of the Army’s Eastern Mindanao Command (EastMinCom).
At 5:30 this morning, Army reports said that 20 armed NPA guerrillas with three amazons ransacked the farmhouse of retired Col. Alexander Noble at Barangay Sayawan, Impasug-ong, Bukidnon.
The guerrillas carted away a shotgun, a caliber .38 pistol, a cellphone and P4,000 cash, said an incident report dispatched by Col. Leopoldo Galon, EastMinCom spokesperson.
Galon, in a follow up interview, said that Noble’s men were not able to offer any resistance. “They overwhelmed and did not resist anymore. Surprise is key to every raid,” he said
Around 7:30 a.m. last Sunday, a Petron fuel tanker with plate number GKS-802 was burned by the NPA along the national highway in Barangay Adtuyon, Pangantukan, Bukidnon.
Galon said that the fuel tanker from Cagayan de Oro City was on its way to Kalilangan in Bukidnon when flagged down by the “armed men who introduced themselves as NPAs.”
Around 6:30 a.m. last Saturday, two hauler trucks loaded with lawaan logs were torched allegedly by the NPAs.
One of the trucks was owned by Ricardo Balad-on and the other by one identified only as Mr. Manlangit, both residents of Barangay Babah, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.
Galon’s report said the two trucks were totally damaged. (Romy Elusfa, MindaNews contributor)
