Armilla, in an earlier interview, suggested that local government should invite well-to-do families in the city, police and military officers to sit down and discuss and plan on how to improve security coordination in the city.
A criminologist by profession, city councilor Roger Abaday agreed with Armilla saying the city “should have a proactive plan and not just reactive plans” in addressing security and safety issues.[]
In a text message, Tuesday, Cagayan de Oro Chamber of Industries president Jerome Soldevilla welcomed the idea of holding a security summit. He, however, said its composition should be broader since security issue is a “community concern.”
“It’s a welcome suggestion but I believe it should be multisectoral and not merely confined to one or two sectors,” Soldevilla said.
He added, “Security is a community concern and all stakeholders must be involved.[]
