The PDRRMC which Moreno chairs is tasked, among others, “to identify, assess and manage the hazard vulnerabilities and risks that may occur” as well as “to formulate and implement a comprehensive and integrated disaster risk reduction and management program” in the locality.
Recently, Northern Mindanao’s Regional Development Council (RDC), during its meeting in Iligan City on February 15, had enjoined all local government units in the region to integrate DRR-CCA in development planning and decision-making.
RDC, which is chaired by Iligan City Mayor Lawrence Ll. Cruz, is supporting the DRR-CCA integration project, which is being undertaken by the National Economic and Development Authority through the Regional Development Coordination Staff in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Australian Agency for
International Development (AusAID).
RDC 10 vice chairperson Leon M. Dacanay Jr. said the provincial governments of Misamis Oriental, Misamis Occidental and Lanao del Norte have expressed interests on the DRR-CCA integration project, which is being piloted in the provinces of Bukidnon and Camiguin. The DRR-CCA integration project consists of capacity building, organizing, risk assessment and disaster risk assessment integration activities.[]
