Competition starts at 9:00 a.m. Dancesport Team Davao training director Denise Bunayog said that the event will have elementary, high school and college categories. Competitors will vie for honors in the elementary Latin bronze figures-Cha cha cha/Jive and Standard bronze figures-Waltz; high school Latin bronze figures-Cha cha cha/Rumba/Jive and Standard bronze figures-Waltz; and college Latin bronze figures-Cha cha cha/Rumba/Jive and Standard bronze figures-Waltz.
Entry forms are available at the Sports Development Division at City Hall and at the Recreo Ballroom Center and Dancesport Training Camp. The event is one of the 17 sport disciplines tapped to highlight the 71st Araw ng Dabaw sporting spectacle.
Dancesports along with youth chess, arnis, taekwondo and swimming are the events supported by the Philippine Sports Commission through Chairman William "Butch" Ramirez.
Meanwhile, Roy Gimarino topped the Mayor Rodrigo Duterte-Araw ng Dabaw Bowling Tournament finals, Wednesday night, at the B3 of NCCC Mall.
Gimarino received P15,000 as champion, after he beat Romy Garcia, who settled for P7,000.
Nonoy Calida landed at third place, with P5,000 prize, while William Lam took the fourth spot at P3,000.
Christine Alovera won the women's division, followed by Tess Gancio at second and Evelyn Gonzales at third.
The tournament was presented by Mayor Duterte and supported by City Sports Coordinator Christopher "Bong" Go and the Durian Tenpin Bowlers Association. (Rico Biliran / MindaNews)
