Councilor Leo Avila said all the proceeds would go to the "continuing adoption of land at Talomo Lipadas Watershed" which is one of the 12 watersheds that has been identifed as the primary water source in the region.
Around 50 fruit trees and 300 forest trees were planted in the site that was first adopted by the fun ride organizers in the 5-year Watershed Rehabilitation Project of the Davao City Water District (DCWD).
" It was the sweat and tears of the riders (who took part in the first five stagings) nagpatubo sa mga puno-an, " said Avila.
Carrying a theme Bike and Walk for Clean Air, the one-day fun ride will reels off on August 12 starting at Magsaysay Park and ends at Malagos Park.
The fun ride will cover a total of 40 kilometers, according to Dino Carpio of the Federation of Off-Road Cycling Enthusiast (FORCE).
Actress and model Chin Chin Gutierrez, named, as one of Time magazine’s “Heroes of Asia” for her environmental work will grace the affair.
Avila encourage all bike enthusiasts to join the event that is receiving an overwhelming support from various groups including the USAID thorough its Energy and Clean Air Project.
Registration fee is pegged at P2, 000 inlcusive of t-shirt, pack certificate and raffle stub. Forms are available at Office of Councilor Avila, DCWD and all bike shops. (Rico Biliran/MindaNews))
