Cash prizes and trophies are at stake in the bikefest, which is one of the sports events in celebration of the Kadayawan Festival.The champion team will take home P5, 000 while the next two finishers will receive P3, 000 and P2, 000 respectively. The fourth placer will also get P1, 000.
Among the entries is a team from Marbel, South Cotabato led by top class rider Tirzo Osario. They will compete in the open elite class.
Race Director Jun Paholio said there are five teams from Davao City and one from Tagum City will also join the race.
The one-day race is longer than last year and cover 90 kilometers with a turning point in nearby Panabo City. From Panabo City , Paholio said the riders will traverse the newly-opened Barangay Mahayag farm to market road in Bunawan District that will egress in Barangay Calinan, some 25 kilometers southwest.
“The race will traverse the three congressional district of Davao City, “said Paholio.
Aside from the team and individual classification, a category is also open for veterans 40 years old and above.(Rico Biliran/MindaNews).
